Over fifty Friends made their way to Kildrought House, Celbridge on Saturday, 30 June for our annual garden party. Our host, Mrs June Stuart graciously welcomed the Friends to her fascinating, early 18th-century house, explaining its history and various incarnations over the centuries, and the story of its restoration in the late 20th century. Our President, Peter Pearson, led tours of the house and we all relaxed in the meticulously maintained gardens which slope down to the Liffey.
Huge thanks are due to Anne Kearney Farrelly who organized the marquees, prepared splendid food and drinks, and ran a successful raffle. Anne was ably assisted by her family team — husband Adrian, son Kim and his wife, Ann Louise and their children, Ava and Reuben. Along with Jerome Pearson, they all played a blinder. Thanks too to Miranda, Lady Broadbent, and Hilary Carey who supplied prodigious quantities of strawberries and cream.
The party was judged a splendid success — reluctantly, we departed Kildrought, having spent a very enjoyable afternoon in a beautiful location in the company of fellow Friends.
