The Friends of the National Collections of Ireland would like to record the passing of Mrs Carmencita Hederman and extend their sympathy to her family. As well as being a champion for Dublin city, Lord Mayor (1987–8) and senator (1989–93), she was a council member and former president of the FNCI. She very generously donated three paintings to the Society, one of which — ‘Catching the tram in Nassau Street, Dublin’ by Rose Barton has been presented to Waterford City Gallery. Negotiations are underway to place the other works in appropriate public collections.
