FNCI’s 102nd AGM
A well-attended Friends’ AGM took place on 29 April, 2026 at the Irish Architectural Archive. The President welcomed attendees, thanking fellow officers and Council for their work in progressing the Society’s mission of enabling funding assistance towards acquisitions, assisting in placing donated artworks in appropriate repositories and running fundraising events. He particularly thanked our host, Mr Colum O’Riordan, CEO, IAA for his ongoing support. He also adverted to current work on governance and compliance.
Annual reports re acquisitions, events, the website, as well as the financial statements for 2025 were presented and the Council for 2026-7 was elected unanimously. Mr Conor Newman, Senior Lecturer, School of Geography, Archaeology & Irish Studies at the University of Galway then delivered an illuminating lecture — ‘Ireland and Italy: the start of the Irish Golden Age’, focusing on the evidence for Irish presence in the north of Italy deduced inter alia from recent finds of miniature insular reliquaries.
