John Bowden was an associate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers and Fellow of the Surveyors’ Institute.
Bowden took a leading role in the inception and successful carrying out of the Royal Jubilee Exhibition at Old Trafford in 1887 where his qualifications as both an engineer and architect were found of special value.
