The FNCI have presented to the Tower Museum in Derry-Londonderry city a  silk bannerette of the Royal Tyrone Regiment of Militia. Like the Donegal Militia it was founded in 1793 and it too participated in the suppression of the ’98 Rebellion at Athy, Narraghmore and Ballymore Eustace in County Kildare and at Vinegar Hill and Tuberneering in Wexford. In 1881 it was subsumed into the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

Unless fragile and rare relics of our country’s history, in all its aspects, such as these objects are collected and preserved they will eventually disappear and be lost for ever. Then future generations will reproach us and wonder why we allowed it to happen.
