Lord Gerald Fitzgerald was the second son of Augustus Frederick Fitzgerald, the 3rd Duke of Leinster. He was an officer in the Scots Fusilier Guards (1840–1846) and a noted amateur draughtsman and etcher, known for his work with the Junior Etching Club. He was also an amateur musician.
